Security & Other TSA Myths

I’ve been reading loads of commentaries and 140 character opinions regarding the TSA and their “new” screening activities.  Let’s just say I am more than mildly annoyed at DHS, and, quite frankly, the US Government.  Instead of using security techniques that actually work, our government remains committed to political correctness at the expense of our Constitutional Rights.

The Israelis are the acknowledged world experts at all things security, and they think we are nuts!  The terrorists are in their caves and mud huts laughing at TSA attempts to keep us safe.  Everyone, except the brilliant minds at DHS, know these efforts are worse than futile.  It was said best by a security expert on TV over the weekend: Our security efforts are reactive, not proactive.  Amen to that!

The ACLU has gone to great lengths to make profiling illegal.  So, thanks to them, and their enablers, TSA feels it necessary and perfectly fine to grope, strip and humiliate Americans so we don’t offend someone.   Seems it is okay to humiliate Americans for appearance sake rather than being effective.  I am NOT surprised the ACLU is silent on these invasive search techniques.  What are they going to say?  Oops, profiling works…  Not on your life.  Political correctness is much more important than, say, our Constitution and Bill of Rights.

I get angry when I see TSA agents near strip searching uniformed members of the military; I get angry when I see TSA agents fondling children; I get angry when I see TSA agents humiliate the elderly; the infirm; the general public, all in the name of national security.  What a frigging joke, people!  How long are we, as a nation, going to take this Big Government intrusion into our lives?  What is is going to take to get us to say NOStop Now!?  I am waiting for the next step in DHS attempts to keep us safe.

The next logical step taken by DHS/TSA will be when Pistole or whatever that goon’s name is, and Janet ‘Napoleon’, decide that because the Saudi’s found explosives in a terrorist’s anus, body cavity searches will be mandatory for all passengers.  Do you think Americans will drop and bend for this?  Or will they quit acting like sheep and tell the Feds “Enough is enough!”

Yes, I am disgusted.  Yes, I am angry – at the Feds and at Americans in general.  I think this nation has too many sheep as citizens and not enough Patriots.  Well sheep.  Prepare for another fleecing and who knows what else your government has in mind for you.

Get mad people.  Tell your government enough is enough!

TSA Screenings or Pornography?

I have never been a fan of airport passenger screenings, even when they were relatively benign.  I have always thought they were a violation of my Constitutional Rights.  Why the Federal Government believes it has the right to infringe on my ability to fly escapes me – other than they can.  Recent “improvements” to airport screenings now just piss me off.  Please excuse my language, but it really does make me mad!

I’ve been reading lots of stories about how TSA employees are abusing citizens either in the full body scanners – read strip search – to full body feel-ups, not pat-downs.  I, for one, have absolutely no plans or desire to ever fly again.  What I look like sans clothing is nobody’s business but my wife and my Doctor.  It sure as the dickens isn’t some TSA rent-a-cop who wouldn’t have any idea what to do with a terrorist, if they could figure out what one looks like.

Look, I am no fan of the ACLU, but I really hope they decide to get ticked off about these strip searches, and file a whopper of a lawsuit for unreasonable searches and child pornography.  I also hope law enforcement watches these folks at TSA, and if they are found to have captured and sent images out-of-network, they prosecute them.  I know, TSA and DHS say images can’t be captured or sent across the Internet.  Well, that moronic statement has already been disproven, hasn’t it.  We have all seen the photos that have been posted on news sites with the “special” areas blurred.  Bet they weren’t blurred when the newsies got them.

Folks, it is time DHS, TSA, the White House, and Congress heard our voices.  We need to tell them “No more electronic strip searches, and No more feel ups of Americans!”  If more folks refused to be groped and manhandled and quit flying, I bet the airlines would spit and sputter all the way to Congress.  I do not recall which of our Founders said it, but: “Those who willingly give up Liberty for Security have neither.”  Well, do you feel safer now that our government is watching and feeling you in all your glory?

What’s Going On? Part 2

Did you see the interview of the wife of the assassinated jet-ski rider on Fox & Friends this morning?  It was heartbreaking, to say the least!  The Mexican authorities are ignoring her requests to recover her husband’s remains, and, of course, our own President and his cabinet are ignoring her pleas, as well.   I’m guessing there is some sort of political gain to be had for them to blow her off.  This just breaks my heart.  I wish I were in a position to help her.  For our government to ignore her is unforgivable, and for the Mexican Government to ignore her cries for help is immoral.

Seems to me the local authorities should tell the Federal and Mexican authorities to go to hell and go find the man and bring him back to his family.  That probably won’t happen – no one in power wants an “international incident”. I guess those that have the power to do something are concerned about the reaction of the pirates/terrorists/drug cartels…  Our government won’t lift a finger to help for fear of insulting someone, other than a US citizen, and the Mexican authorities don’t have the ability, or the will power, to combat terrorists on their own soil.  Yes, I believe this was a terrorist attack on an American Citizen, and our own government refuses to stand up and protect its’ own people out of fear!

All I can do is pray God grants her, and the rest of the family, peace while this unfolds.

What is going on?

What is going on in the south?  Areas are posted, by the Federal Government, basically stating certain areas of our country are off-limits to us.  What?  Park lands, open areas/spaces are off-limits to us?  Off-limits because Mexican drug gangs and illegal immigrants are threatening US citizens, and have, in fact, killed Americans, shot and wounded Americans on their own property.  This is absolutely unacceptable!

Earlier this week pirates killed a man jet skiing on a Texas lake, and shot at his wife forcing her to leave her husband behind – dead, in the water.  Pirates?  Here instead of the waters off Somolia?  To coin a phrase – This is BS!  Mexican Terrorists are murdering American citizens in our backyard.  Where is the outrage?  Where is the media?  Why isn’t our own government doing something to stop this?  No, I am not laying the blame entirely on President Obama or this Congress.  This goes back much further than the current Administration.  This whole mess goes back longer than I’ve been alive, and that means mid-1950s.

Well, the problem can no longer be ignored.  There is a war being waged on our southern border.  The Border Patrol is not large enough nor strong enough to wage this war.  Nor is it their job.  Private citizens should not have to wonder if they are going to be engaged by hostile forces for the simple act of walking out of their own homes, into their front or back yards.  Why is this being allowed to happen?  Why is this a political event?

Mr. President.  Members of Congress.  There is a war being waged on our southern border.  This is a Clear and Present Danger to the security of the United States of America!  Our military must be deployed to our southern border and they must be authorized to engage and destroy the enemies of our Country by force of arms.  This war is no different than those being waged in Iraq and Afghanistan, and should be treated in the same manner.

Mr. President, let loose the Dogs of War! If it takes our troops maneuvering into Mexico to close with and kill the enemy, so be it.  Mexico seems unwilling or unable to control the enemies within, so we must do it for them!  Who knows what alliances drug cartels have made with Al Qaeda, Taliban, and/or other terrorist organizations.  These cartels are killing private citizens, politicians, journalists, police, and military personnel for the crime of not agreeing to be controlled by these Drug Kings.  They are terrorists themselves.  This is not a law enforcement situation!  This is War!  This war needs to be fought like a real war and not just given lip service.

Mr. President.  You need to take action immediately!  This is within your power as Commander-in-Chief to resolve.  You swore an oath to Protect and Defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, both foreign and domestic.  Mr. President, don’t you think it is time for you to abide by that oath?  Otherwise, can you tell us, what is going on?

9th Anniversary

Hard to believe it has been nine years since the murders and act of war were committed on American soil.  To me, the wounds are still fresh.  No, I didn’t lose anyone on that day, but fellow Americans were attacked and murdered without cause or reason – certainly no legitimate reason.

Decisions Can Suck!

November 18, 2009

Our Commander-in-Chief has yet to make a decision regarding his “war” strategy in Afghanistan.  News reports indicate a decision could be forthcoming after January 1, 2010.  The Administration through the State Department and others has stated victory is no longer our goal for Afghanistan, and a stable democracy is not part of the strategy either.  Excuse me?  Why then are we there?

A politician or spokesman said the Afghans need to take over the war effort and security for their country.  Is this Administration saying we have done all we can for the Afghan people?  The Obama administration seems to be setting the table for withdrawal from Afghanistan – they don’t like Karzi because his government is corrupt.  Whatever…  Seems to me the Iraq Government was nearly or just as corrupt when the surge was implemented in 2007.  Gee, should we have withdrawn then instead of DOING THE JOB RIGHT?  Afghanistan has been the forgotten war.  President Bush and his Administration did a POOR job of managing it.  That does not mean we should quit and leave the country vulnerable for the Taliban and Al Qaeda to over-run and begin re-building their terrorist regime.  We should prosecute this war with all tools available to our troops.  Let them engage and destroy the enemy without these nonsensical Rules of engagement!

The folks running our country are CLUELESS!  The indecisiveness of the liberals in charge is emboldening terrorists across the world.  They know this Administration is weak and victory is close.  If they can stage an attack on US soil they know the Administration will not respond militaristically as they understand Liberals generally loathe the military and what it stands for.  They know Obama considers terrorism as a law enforcement function.  They know US Law Enforcement is not capable of defeating them or even slowing them down.  I am sure they laughed out loud at AG Holder’s announcement to try Al Qaeda leaders in Federal Court – so did I because it is a joke!

Isn’t it just awesome our government is giving terrorists a public platform to espouse their jihadist rhetoric?!?  To be able to recruit from the courtroom?  Defense attorneys will ask for, and receive classified intelligence data that will be delivered to Al Qaeda for them to use against us.  (I strongly disagree with Judge Napalitano’s position regarding prosecution of terrorists must take place in Federal Court.  Even though this is an undeclared war captured combatants are not entitled to our constitutional rights unless they are captured on our soil.  I don’t believe these folks are even entitled to protections granted by the Geneva Conventions as they are not wearing the uniforms of any nation or state.  They can and should be treated as spies using the Geneva Convention’s guidelines.  I believe they should be interrogated harshly to gain actionable intelligence.  (No, I don’t condone torture – it doesn’t work.  Torture victims routinely say what they think they captors want to hear.  Harsh interrogations do work.  Think KSM.))

Mr. President, make a decision.  Either give your hand-picked General what he asked for or declare defeat and withdraw our troops.  Don’t leave them in Harm’s Way wondering what they are supposed to do except try and survive.  I know it is difficult and a new way of acting since you’ve spent most of your adult life avoiding making any decisions.  Being accountable can suck, but, guess what?  You are the President and you are responsible regardless of your desire to blame Bush, Republicans, Tea Party members or whomever.  If you aren’t comfortable with having to take a stand and make a decision that might not be popular with some of your left-wing supporters, resign.  But that would mean making a decision too, wouldn’t it…

Terrorism at Fort Hood?

Initial reports state the murders at Fort Hood today were not terror-related.  The shootings were performed by a Major, a shrink, who converted to Islam, who was upset about an upcoming deployment to either Iraq or Afghanistan.  Two other soldiers are considered suspects and are in custody.

The FBI said “terrorism isn’t even being discussed” (paraphrased).  Well, why not?  Was an act of terror not committed?  Were people in the areas of the shooting not terrified?  Are families not terrified as they have not heard from their loved one(s)?  Are children, still in lock-down at school two hours or more after the school day is finished not terrified?  Are their parents not terrified because they can not get to their children to comfort them and possibly give them the news that Mommy or Daddy won’t be coming home anymore?

What is the difference between this event and “confirmed” terrorist attacks?  None in my opinion!  The killing of innocents by whatever means is an Act of Terror!  It does not matter whether a bomb, airplane, or firearm is used to murder one, a dozen , or thousands of innocents.  An ACT OF TERROR IS TERRORISM regardless how the pundits or government want to paint the picture!  Is their a reason the military and the Administration don’t want to call this what it is – Terrorism?

Are they afraid they will be blamed for this idiot’s murderer’s actions?  They shouldn’t be – nobody in their right mind could make that accusation without looking the fool.  Even the military can not know the mind-set of every soldier, no more than the FBI can know the mind of every criminal.

It is a soldier’s right to moan and complain.  It wouldn’t be the Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, or Air Force if the troops didn’t bitch about something.  Something; however, caused this (these) soldier(s) to cross the line and murder their own.

My guess?  Islam, at least on the Major’s part.  Why else would he be upset about a deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan and wage war on Islamic Terrorists?  Did he believe the war is about Islam, or, was he a believer in Jihad?  Maybe we will find out after the two suspects are interrogated, if they were involved.

A Terrorist attack destroyed a part of the ‘Band of Brothers’ today.  It did not, and will not have the desired effect Terrorists so desperately want – the destruction of our military and the crumbling of morale.  If anything, the Army and the rest of our military will become closer, stronger, and much more eager to bring the fight to the Jihadii’s doorstep!

HOOAH! Our thoughts and prayers are with you Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, Coasties, and your families, always!

NOTE:  It appears the gunman survived in spite of being shot four times by a heroic civilian police sgt who was wounded in the firefight.  Numerous reports, none substantiated, have him saying or yelling Jihadist statements before and during the assault.  It is still my opinion this was a Terrorist attack!

Afghanistan, Part II… er III maybe IV

Update: October 18, 2009

President Obama’s Chief of Staff now says “No troop increase until we see if the US has an effective partner in Kabul”. (emphasis added)  I agree the Afghan government is jacked up, but Iraq’s government isn’t in much different shape.  Corruption is prevalent in both governments, (you’d think they are copying the US Congress…) and we still surged in Iraq – and won, much to the chagrin of Kerry, Obama, Pelosi, Reid, et al.  President Bush made the hard choice of doing what is right rather than what is politically expedient.  The difference between the choices in Iraq -v- Afghanistan?  Who is in charge!  Conservatives nearly always do what is right regardless of opinion and liberals nearly always do what the polls and their extremist supporters demand of them.  It is a known fact liberals loathe the military believing hand-holding, apologies, and making-nice will always win our enemies approval – just look at Chamberlin and Hitler; Clinton and any rogue nation…   Face it, liberals are weak-kneed, indecisive, and scared when it comes to national defense, national security, and any measure that requires Federal action to protect American citizens.

I sincerely hope Americans remember liberals would rather implement socialist laws while ignoring our troops when voting next month, 2010 and 2012!

October 15, 2009

What to do with Afghanistan?  The Afghanistan COIN report has been ready for action by the President for quite some time now.  The President has been talking with his NSC staff and Congressional “experts” on what to do – what new strategy to implement and replace the other new strategy enacted last spring.  These “experts” include VP Biden, whom we all know to be an expert in all things military and foreign policy – like dividing Iraq into three or more regions since the war can not be won…  The President knows he has to make a decision and that is the problem.  He doesn’t like to make decisions.  He prefers to delegate or abdicate his responsibility to Congress and others so he doesn’t have to take ownership if all does not go well.

In order to appear to actually doing something, the President has staffers reviewing, commenting, clarifying, and stonewalling.  He says, through spokesmen, memos and leaks, ‘we must be judicious in our approach’; ‘we must ensure we make the proper decisions’.  (Paraphrased)  It seems not to matter his hand-picked General has made his recommendations with the approval of his CENTCOM boss.  The President is looking to make a politically acceptable decision rather than a military decision.  He wants to the outcome to make him look good rather than make our military successful.

It seems victory is not his ultimate goal since this Administration does not even consider actions against terrorism a war but a law enforcement activity.  Sound familiar?  LBJ tried something similar to this Afghan piecemeal approach in a little place called Vietnam, and turned victory into defeat.  The US decimated the guys in the little black PJs, yet we lost that “police action” because LBJ and his NSC staff were inept, and, as a result, many thousands of Americans were killed because of Washington’s stupidity!  I pray our military is given the resources they need to destroy the guys in the little white robes.

If the military is allowed to conduct operations similar to those used to defeat the Sunni uprising and cause the Sunni Awakening, there is hope.  If they are not allowed to operate as a strong military force, then there most certainly will be change.

God bless our troops, their families and the United States of America

New Afghanistan Strategy – Chicago Olympics First!

September 29, 2009

President Obama is leaving for Denmark Thursday evening with an entourage to sway the IOC to award Chicago the 2016 Olympics.  He is the first American President to do so; however, he is not the first world leader to appeal for an Olympic venue.  I would not be troubled by his trip if it were not for just a few minor details.

He has met once – over secure video – with Gen. McChrystal, his ground commander for Afghanistan in the 70+ days since the President appointed him.  Gen. McChrystal has been waiting for the President to review and discuss his request for additional troop deployment to fight al Qaeda and the Taliban.  The General warns of disastrous consequences if his request is not approved soon as new troops are needed to fight the al Qaeda/Taliban spring offensive.  The Administration states he prefers to use the Chain-of-Command and speaks to his generals through Sec. Gates.  All well and good except the President is the Commander-In-Chief and is the top of the Chain-of-Command.  He is right to use Sec. Gates for most communication, but in this particular case he needs to hear from Gen. McChrystal directly.  How else can he hear and see what his commander needs?  When reports are filtered through multiple layers before reaching the decision maker they are often changed to reflect what reviewers believe is important and not the author’s intent.  The Administration states the request is under review as is the Afghan strategy.  So, the General waits.  So, our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines wait.  They wait while the President takes care of more strategically important issues like the Olympics.

Our Troops and Generals now know where they stand with our President.

Stupid Terrorist Tricks

September 25, 2009

Kudos to the FBI, CIA, and local LEOs for their vigilance and hard work on our behalf!  Four terrorist busts in the last few days.  On going investigations with more arrests in the works – (I do hope they know where the other 24+/- suspects are.).  Look at how widespread these busts are – NY, Denver/Aurora, CO, Springfield, IL, and Dallas, TX.  Did you think middle-America was immune?

It seems the Feds have been on the tail of these terrorists for quite some time building cases against them.  The CIA followed at least one suspect to Pakistan/Afghanistan, and kept the FBI informed of his activities.  Fortunately, the CIA still has dedicated folks working hard to keep us safe in spite of AG Holder’s fishing expedition.  Without these dedicated professionals we would have been attacked multiple times in the last eight years.  They deserve a standing ovation.

These arrests must be making the Obama Administration pause and reconsider whether to push for re-authorization of the Patriot Act which must be making Pelosi, Reid, the ACLU and the rest of the left squirm at that possibility.  I bet the phones are ringing off the hook at the White House!  I am no fan of portions of the Patriot Act, but I do believe appropriate portions of the Act must be re-authorized.  Otherwise, terrorists will bring active war to our shores.  I don’t know about you, but I am not interested in any part of our country resembling Mosul or Kandahar!

These arrests mean we all need to use Situational Awareness every time we step outside our homes.  No, I don’t mean living in fear.  Just be aware and use your head.

HOOAH to the FBI, CIA, and local Law Enforcement Agencies!
